- Singularity (itch) (alexnerd) Mac Os Version
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
A game by Winston Powell and Alexander Bascom
Sprout is all about exploration discovery and experimentation. Much like it's predecessor, it encourages you to play with all the elements you come across to create new life that will inhibit the large open environment. The landscape is filled with many mysterious locations and ancient ruins to discover, much of which hold secrets to be uncovered as you progress. As new life finds its way to the world, more can be learned about the strange beings that once lived there!
Much of the game is yet to be created so this demo features simple exploration and the flora and fauna will be added in as we progress.

Why did you stop updating this is such a nice game. very relaxing, day and night looks great. You could have finished the game.
I'm glad you liked the game :) We would have loved to continue working on it but it's a real challenge to work without income. At the time, both myself and the programmer were split between having payed work or making this game. Eventually the payed work took priority and we both moved on.
Love your world/terrain engine. Did you custom build that from scratch, or use some existing Unity toolkit and drop your own custom graphics/map in? Really like the look of it either way. Performs well on i5 CPU with Intel HD4000 graphic hardware laptop running Kubuntu 18.04 Linux. Any plans to ever revisit this project and flesh it out into a full game, or is it pretty much a 'dead' tech demo at this point?
Thanks for checking it out :) It's nice to know it actually works on Linux as I never tested it there myself.
The map was made with the Unity terrain tools of the time. I started with a height map I made in Photoshop then refined it from there in engine.

And unfortunately, this is a long abandoned project. We had the intention of making the full game but both the programmer and myself moved on to other things before getting too far.
I'm glad you liked seeing the project none the less!
I tried this back in '17

Thanks again for sharing!
If you are interested, I recently did a little update to the game adding Mac and Linux support, fixing the look sensitivity, cleaning up some weather and day/night effects, adding a water shader, and various other small tweaks.
Unfortunately, this project has been canceled so larger updates are unlikely.
game render distance is too small and mouse movements are too high. My device is ASUS G750JH with intel core i7 4700HQ and nvidia 780M. Game runs smootly.
Hey! Thanks for the feedback on that. I'm sure I can do something about the mouse. The render distance is something that's really going to depend on how well the game performs. I'll adjust some of the quality setting presets to allow for more flexibility.
We haven't touched this game in some time but I feel like jumping back in and adding more of the features myself pretty soon.
As primarily the artist, I'm glad you like the looks :)
It has a lot of potential! I like that it is really vibrant and that it's a really big world. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for covering the demo in your video! It was nice to hear your thoughts.

Looks interesting! Have you got some future plans for development? :)

Yes :) Me and Alex are steadily working on it. Neither of us have a bunch of time but the goal is to finish it. If you check out the prototype, you can get a better idea of what the basic gameplay will be like.
Awesome! How to contact you by email about Sprout? I think I got an offer for you :) Glitchbuster (itch) mac os.
Sure! I'd love to chat. If you go to the 'About' section on my site, (www.acornbringer.com), there is a place to contact me there. I'll get back to you as soon as I can :)
